AboutWincey is a professional female vocalist from Jersey City, NJ. She launched her singing career before the congregation of a small pentecostal church at age 13 when she belted out an a capella chorus at the prodding of the choir directress. It was the reaction she got that convinced her that this is something she must do. As a teenager, Wincey enjoyed the vocal style of jazz giants such as Sarah Vaughn and Ella Fitzgerald, gospel greats like Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Funk Diva, Chaka Khan and song stylists, Anita Baker and Rachelle Farelle. Studying different artists has provided a certain versatility for Wincey which makes it possible for her to satisfy a wide range of musical tastes at her shows with renditions from many categories of music. This versatility has also landed her many jobs in the music and film business with such industry giants such as Spike Lee, Bill Cosby, Tina Turner and Garrison Keilor, as well as having appeared on many television shows including Soul Train, Arsenio Hall and David Letterman. Wincey has always had an immense respect for the power of music and the way tunes and lyrics can inspire, depress, or soothe. It was this revelation that encouraged her to combine the impact music has on its listeners with a lyrical content that educates the audience and form the division of her company, Winceyco, that produces Musically Educating Programs. Winceyco has been educating people of all ages in schools and churches throughout the state of New Jersey since 1988. The staff of educators work very closely with consultants, classroom teachers, engineers, school psychologists, medical professionals, ministers, etc.) to combine a perfect balance of music with vital facts about Black History, Science, Drug Awareness and our Music Lineage. These productions are presented in the form of a stage play that provides both audio and visual effects for an even greater impact on the audience. This technique of combining education with entertainment has been very successful and the idea of providing a valuable and lasting musical experience for the audience gives music new meaning for Wincey. |
